Day 01 :
Arrival at Jiuzhaigou airport or train station, be met and transferred to hotel in Jiuzhaigou.

You can choose to travel to Jiuzhaigou by train or flight based on your budget and preference.

Upon your arrival at Jiuzhaigou airport or train station, you will be greeted and driven to your hotel just outside Jiuzhaigou Park to rest and prepare for the next day.

Note:

  • Currently, there are only flights from Beijing and Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou, with both flights scheduled to arrive at Jiuzhaigou airport in the late afternoon or evening. The drive from Jiuzhaigou airport to your hotel just outside Jiuzhaigou Park takes about 2 hours.
  • Several trains run from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou (Zhenjiangguan train station). The drive from the train station to your hotel in Jiuzhaigou takes about 2.5-3 hours.
Day 02 :
Full day tour in Jiuzhaigou National Park

Prepare yourself for a visual feast today! You will have a full day to explore the spectacular Jiuzhaigou National Park, renowned for its crystal-clear lakes, waterfalls, pristine forests, and more. You will also visit the Tibetan villages inside of the park. Suggest you to take the local sightseeing bus to one of the top of the valleys, then enjoy a leisurely walk down. No matter how you will tour, you'll be captivated by the world-famous scenery that has earned this park UNESCO World Heritage status. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to experience a local Tibetan-Qiang minority cultural show (ticket cost not included). Overnight at Jiuzhaigou.

Day 03 :
Drive to visit Huanglong Park, then transfer to Songpan County for overnight

After breakfast at your hotel, take a 3-hour drive from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong Park, renowned for its stunning calcified lakes. If you're up for a challenge, opt for a 2-hour climb to the top instead of taking the cable car, considering the elevation of over 3,000 meters (9,842 ft.), which might cause altitude sickness for some.

Once at the top, spend about 2 hours enjoying the spectacular lakes and natural wonders. When you’re ready, descend back to the park’s entrance to meet your driver. You’ll arrive in Songpan by late afternoon. Overnight in Songpan County.

Day 04 :
Drive to Langmusi via Ruo'ergai grassland

Start your morning by heading to Langmusi, a drive of about 4 hours from Songpan. Along the way, enjoy the rolling grasslands dotted with yaks and nomads.

Langmusi is a quaint village straddling the border of Gansu and Sichuan on the Amdo Tibetan Plateau. It lies in a stunning valley surrounded by alpine forests and magnificent mountains.

Upon your arrival in Langmusi, check into your hotel. In the afternoon, you can visit Kirti Monastery, located on the Sichuan side of the village, which is home to about 750 monks. A hike behind the monastery is also one of the highlights in this area.

Day 05 :
Horseback trekking to Nomad camp site - roughly 4 hours horseback trekking (B,L,D)

In the early morning, you have the option to visit Sertri Monastery on the Gansu side of the village, where you can join locals and monks in following the monastery's pilgrimage kora.

The horseback trekking begins around 10 a.m. along the White Dragon River, with lunch planned on the way, enjoy riding along the snow mountain to go deep into the grassland. After lunch, continue horse trekking and by 4 p.m., reach a vast grassland where sheep and yaks graze.

Upon arriving at the campsite, meet your host family and help to remove the halters and saddles from the horses and learn how to make a fire using yak dung, as well as how to use a special Tibetan herding tool called a 'pe'. Join your host family in driving the animals home and securing the yaks for the night.

Stay overnight at yak hair tents with host family.

Day 06 :
Tibetan nomad life experience with the host family, Horseback trekking back to Langmusi - End the trip.

In the early morning, the nomad families are busy with their routine tasks: milking, collecting yak dung, churning butter, etc. You will participate in one of these activities for an authentic Tibetan nomadic cultural experience.

You'll mount your horse and start heading back to Langmusi around 10:00 AM, typically arriving around 3:00 PM.

If you need to return to Langmusi earlier, please inform us, and we can depart earlier in the morning.

Once you're back in Langmusi, your journey with WindhorseTour concludes. We offer both private transfers and public bus ticket bookings to your next travel destination.

Note: From Langmusi, there are direct buses to Xiahe or Ruo'ergai. For more information on public bus schedules, please feel free to write to us.
