Tibet adds 775 more tourist buses to meet demand

Tibet introduced 775 tourist buses to alleviate transport pressures brought by booming tourism in the region, said a local official on Saturday.

Tourism companies and transport authorities added 775 buses which brought the region's total number to 2,777, said Zhao Shijun, the Tibet Communications Department director.

Tibet received four million tourists from both home and abroad in 2007, up 60 percent from 2006.

The remote southwestern region has seen a tourism boom in the past few years, especially since the Qinghai-Tibet rail service began in July 2006.
