More job opportunities for Tibetan residents
Till the end of October, 17,311 Tibetan residents have obtained their jobs in different fields. It is estimated that 19,000 more residents will find jobs by the end of this year, 9.2 per cent over the previous year, according to the departments concerned in Tibet Autonomous Region.

The statistic shows that Tibet has allocated 43.8 million yuan (about 5.8 million USD) to purchase 2,700 public posts for the old laid-off and the unemployed  during 2006 and 2007, which has ensured 675 households to get at least one job.

Director of TAR Department of Finance Yi Fenshui said that Tibet is about to allocate another 63 million yuan (about 8.3 million USD) to add 3,000 more public posts next year. Thus the public posts in Tibet are expected to reach 5,700 by that time.

Tibet has invested 6.32 million yuan (about 840,000 USD) to hold about 361 professional training classes for 22,562 Tibetan residents till the end of October this year.

In addition, to better solve the unemployment for the old laid-off and the unemployed, another 24 training classes concerning Tibetan characteristics industries such as Tibetan style architecture, Tibetan handicrafts and Tibetan characteristic tourist guides, have also been launched in Tibet.
