November 27, 6 rural Tibetans set off for a big hotel in Zhuhai of Guangdong Province. Before the trip, they had labor consultation smoothly with the hotel that each of them would get more than 1,000 yuan (about 133 USD) per month by performing traditional Tibetan dance.
"It is a surprise that we can earn money by dancing," Phurjung, a rural Tibetan from Lhatse County of Xigaze Prefecture, told the reporter joyfully.
According to Phurjung, his family earned bread and butter only by planting Tibetan barley two years ago. In 2005, sponsored by the Xigaze Tobacco Company, Phurjung and his folks joined the rural troupe in Lhatse. Later on, they had chance to go to Lhasa, Guangzhou and Beijing to perform for national or regional parties. The Zhuhai trip is his first one for business.
Up to now, the rural troupe in Lhatse has 90 members including 50 actors and 40 actresses with the oldest one of 43 while the youngest one of 17. |
