This two or three day walk is a good opportunity to get a feel for trekking in Tibet. The two passes en route, Showa-la and Char-la, are not panicularly high or difficult and the trailheads are easily accessible from Shigatse.
This trek begins at the historic Shalu Monastery and traverses west over a couple of small ranges to Ngor Monastery. From Ngor it is a downhill slog to Nartang Monastery. The route passes through several villages as well as uninhabited dry canyons. It is about a 10 hour walk to Ngor from Shalu, which is best divided into two days and another seven hours from there to Nartang.
This trek tour can be done from April to the end of October.Day 1 Lhasa airport picking up, have a good rest in the afternoon. Overnight at Lhasa. Day 2 Lhasa Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Market. Overnight at Lhasa . Day 3 Lhasa Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Overnight at Lhasa. Day 4 Lhasa / Yamdrok-tso / Gyantse  Head to Kambala pass which is 4794m high, you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso there. It is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Then drive back to chushul, along Nepal friendship way to Gyantse, visit the famous stupa - Gyantse Kumpum, the most stunning architectural wonder in Tibet. Overnight at Gyantse. Day 5 Gyantse / Shalu Monastery / upper Lungsang, trekking 5 -6 hours, 14km Drive to Shalu Monastery from Gyantse, only 70km away. Visit Shalu Monastery. Then start trekking. Camping Day 6 Upper Lungsang / Ngor Monastery, trekking 4hours, 8km, camping Day 7 Ngor Monastery / Nartang Monastery / Shigatse, trekking 5 hours, 18km Today trekking from Ngor to Nartang by passing several villages, saddles, and one electric utility. After arriving at Nartang Monastery, our driver will pick you up to Shigatse. Overnight at Shigatse . Day 8 Shigatse / Tashilhunpo Monastery/ Lhasa Visit Tashilunpo Monastery and the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas in Shigatse, afternoon drive back to Lhasa. Overnight at Lhasa.
