 • Tour Introduction

A place as vast and mountainous as Tibet offers almost unlimited potential for walkers. From the frigid high northern plains to the steamy jungles of the southeast, Tibet is a land of rich cultual and ecological contrasts. The most popular trekking is in the centre of the region, around the major towns and highways. In our tibet trekking tour, we have recommended 5 popular trekking routes in Tibet, with a fantastic walking, superb scenery.

  -  Ganden to Samye Trekking
  -  Tsurphu to Yangpachen Trekking
  -  Shulu to Nartang Trekking
  -  Everest Base Camp Trekking ( Old Tingri to E.B.C)
  -  Mt. Kailash Kora

  Trekking Season In Tibet :
Generally from May to October is the best season for Tibet trekking tours. May and June are good months without much rain or snowfall but some high alpine passes in eastern Tibet may still be closed by heavy snow. July and August are the hottest months of the year but they tend to be rainy and this can make walking messy. September and October are excellent months for trekking but in high areas the nights are cold and early snow is always a possibility. So anyway it really depends on what trekking tours you will take.

 Trekking Preparation:
You need to prepare for the extremes in weather and terrain before you take a tibet trekking tour. The time of year you choose will dictate the equipment you will need.

  - Clothing and Footwear.
Minimum you need basic warm clothing, including a hat, scarf, gloves, down jacket ( suggest you buy it when you are in Lhasa), long underwear, warm, absorbent socks, all-weather shell and sun hat, as weel as comfortable well-made pants and shirts. Another important asset is a pair of strong, well-fitting hiking boots.
  - Equipment
As most of our trekking tours will be in the remote areas of Tibet and provisions are hard to find. So a tent, sleepingbag, Mattress and backpacking stove are essential. But all of them can be offered by our travel agency, you can choose just take your own sleeping bag and Tent. And other basics includes water containers with a systerm for water purification, a flashlight, pocket knife, and walking stick which is not only as a walking aid, but also for protection against Tibetan dogs.

- Protection against sunburn
As the sunshine is really strong, you need to take the sunglasses, sunhat and suntan lotion etc. Ladies should take the high SPF sun-cream.
  - Medicine
Take an adequate supply of any prescription medication you use regularly, including inhalers for asthma. Most over-the-counter medicines, such as aspirin and anti-diarhea pills, are available in Lhasa, but are more difficult to obtain outside of urban areas.

  High Altitude Sickness:
High Altitude Sickness could happen to any guest in high altitude. The effect of HAS usually remains 2 days till the body acclimatizes. Headache, nausea, vomiting and short breath are the common symptoms. To avoid HAS take garlic soup, more water frequently. Diamox tabs are also recommended.
