The Litang Festival is associated with the ancient Zubirishao Festival, the festival of praying around the mountain, on the Tibetan calendar. When the wild flowers and grasses are at their peak, 10 days of horse racing and festival are held to show devotion to the sacred mountain and celebrate the harvest. This is the most important festival of the grasslands. In the 1960's, the local government fixed the dates for the festival as August 1 to 7. During the festival, people gather from all over the Maoya Grassland dressed in the finest clothing with colorful tents and their best food. The grasslands are a sea of tents as the people prepare for seven days of relaxation and festival. The races themselves include long distance, trekking, riding under the belly of the horse, standing upside down on top of the horse, shooting from horseback and other breath-taking feats! Besides horse racing, there are Tibetan operas, dancing, fashion shows and other cultural events.

(27th of Jul.) Day 1 Chengdu (D)
Chengdu airport pick up and transfer to hotel. Dinner will be the local Sichuan cuisine and enjoy Sichuan opera after dinner. Overnight at Chengdu Walter Hotel.
(28th of Jul.) Day 2 Chengdu / Rilongs (B+L+D)
Departs Chengdu via Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Wenchuan County, visit Wolong Giant Panda Natural Reserve in Yingxiu County, across Balang Mountain (4500m), arrive Rilong at the foot of Sigunniang Mountain. Visit Shuangqiao Valley, in this gully, you can view more than 10 snow mountains over 4,000m high, all the peaks, trees, grasslands, streams, and water drops are completely bared in their natural being, untouched and unspoiled by man. Overnight at Rilong.
(29th of Jul.) Day 3 Rilong / Danba (B+L+D)
Drive to Danba from Rilong, en route sightseeing Xiaojin ancient city & the valley of Xiaojin river. Danba is famous for its own beauty valley with pretty Jiarong branch Tibetan women. Visit the unique Danba Ancient block towers in Suopo, the grand and high one thousand years tower groups, the Dadu river valley, feeling and taste the folks and customs of Jiarong branch Tibet people. Overnight at Danba.
(30th of Jul.) Day 4 Danba / Xinduqiao (B+L+D)
Departs Danba to Xinduqiao via the grandure Laya Saint Mountain, beautiful Bamei Mountain, the work of Nature-land forest, the grassland, visit Tagong Monastery, arrives at Xinduqiao in the afternoon, which is called the paradise for photographer. Overnight at Xinduqiao.
(31st of Jul.) Day 5 Xinduqiao / Litang (B+L+D)
Drive from Xinduqiao to our trip destination Litang along Yangjiang, cross 2 high passes over 4000m, arrives at Litang.
Litang is reputed to be the highest town in the world and is the largest town in western Sichuan. It was an important transit town along the ancient trade route between Tibetans from Tibet and the local Hans at Kangding and Ya'an city. The town is situated on the Maoya Grassland, which in the Tibetan language means, 'Place as flat as a bronze mirror.' We arrive on the eve of the Litang Horse Racing Festival, a very thrilling time! Overnight at Litang guesthouse.
(1st-2nd of Aug.) Day 6 & 7 Join Horse Racing Festival 
Spend two exciting days at the Litang Horse Racing Festival with local people.
(3rd of Aug.) Day 8 Litang / Kangding ( B+L+D)
Today we will depart back to Kangding. The town has held the status of 'Gateway to Tibet' while serving as a demographic border that separates Han China from the predominantly Tibetan and Qiang populations to the west. Have hot-spring at Kangding in the afternoon. Overnight at Kangding.
(4th of Aug.) Day 9 Kangding / Chengdu ( B+L+D)
Today drive back to Chengdu from Kangding along Dadu River and pass through Erlang Tunnel. Overnight at Chengdu.
(5th of Aug.) Day 10 Chengdu airport dropping off (B)
Chengdu airport dropping off, end the trip.
1. Scenic spots' entrance tickets;
2. All the meals. Buffet breakfast in hotel, Chinese lunches and dinners in local restaurants. During the horse festival will have meals according to local condition;
3. Transportation: Bus/ Minivan depends on number of tourists;
4. English-speaking guide;
5. All the accommodation en route. In Chengdu, Kangding, Xiangcheng, Shangri-la, Lijiang will be clean 3 star hotel with private bathroom. In Litang will be local Tibetan style guesthouse or tents accordingly.
